Allen, Clifford D.
READING TEWKSBURY
Of Tewksbury, formerly of Reading, Clifford D. Allen, died
Friday evening, Jan. 29, 1999, of a heart attack at the age of
51. He was born in Laconia, NH, son of Pearl B. (Hall) Allen of
Beverly Hills, FL and the late Daniel D. Allen. Cliff was a
graduate of Reading Memorial H.S., Class of 1965 and a
graduate of Northeast Broadcasting School. He also attended
Boston State. He was a member of the Reading School
Committee for 9 years of which 3 years he served as chairman.
He was Past Pres. of Reading Pop Warner Football for 5 years
and coached for over 15 years. He coached Reading Little
League Baseball & Youth Basketball and officiated at youth
baseball and football. He was a charter member of the Rocket
Athletic Hall of Fame and served as President. He served as a
college football scout. Mr. Allen co-hosted "Rocket Review" a
weekly sports show on Reading Cable. He announced Reading
H.S. Football games on the Reading Channel for a period of 10
years. Mr. Allen had been employed by UPN-38 of Boston as
Film Dept. Head for the past 28 years. He produced TV 38 "Ask
The Manager". He also worked for the National Hockey League
(Bruins Games), Red Sox & Patriot Games. He was an official
for the MIAA. He was President of the Roper Estates
Condominium Assoc. of Tewksbury where he resided for the
past 2 years. He was an active member of the First
Congregational Church of Reading and served as Deacon.
Besides his mother he is survived by his beloved wife Letha A.
(Picanzo) Allen of Tewksbury, a daughter; Dawn Marie Borgia
and her husband Joseph of Pensicola, FL; a son Scott Clifford
Allen and his wife Tanya E. (Wagman) of East Bridgewater.
Grandchildren, Scott & Samantha Borgia. One brother David
Allen of Las Vegas & one sister Nancy Micelli of Woburn. A
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 12 Noon in the First
Congregational Church, 25 Woburn St., Reading. Relatives and
friends may call at the Edgerley & Bessom Reading Funeral
Home, 743 Main St., READING SQUARE on Monday from 4-8 PM.
